Burping as a side effect

Burping as a side effect

Hi,

Since being prescribed duloxetine two years ago I've haven't stopped burping. There's a steady stream of them throughout the day and the odd stream where I'll burp a dozen or so times in succession - I really don't know where it all comes from.

Annoying a side effect as this is the duloxetine does its job very well (it's an antidepressant) and I'm reluctant to stop taking it - not least because I reacted very badly to the first antidepressant I tried. The doctor's tried me on omeprazole, renitadine and gaviscone, and I've tried regular antacids, but nothing's made a jot of difference. I don't suffer from indegestion or reflux, just gas/bloating.

Has anybody had similar experience, and did you get it resolved? I know the obvious answer is to stop taking duloxetine, but that's something I'd rather avoid if at all possible.

What's creating the gas in the first place anyway? I only take 30mg of duloxetine, so how does that generate gallons and gallons of air? My diet hasn't changed. Is it irritating my gut? If so I guess that could be serious in the long term, but the doctor didn't seem concerned ...

Thanks for any replies.
