Can sinus pressure cause spots in vision?

For the past couple of days I have had a sinus infection and bad pressure in my sinuses, mostly on the left side of my face. Along with this, I've been experiencing spots of light in my eyes, as if I had been staring into a bright light for a moment. The spots effect both eyes to a degree, though they seem to be markedly worse in the left eye, seemingly correlated with my sinus pressure. Is this normal or sign of something worse?
