I've read a lot on MS as my son may have it, and his symptoms sound like a seizure rather than a MS attack. It's unfortunate that the mother won't share medical information with you and the father. Can you not take him for a second opinion or have the father make a meeting with his doctor? If you're not close, I would set up a bunch of appointments during the next visit with his father or plan a vacation with the appointments tacked on. Seizures are nothing to mess with, he could have one in a dangerous situation without people knowledgeable enough to put him on his side so he doesn't choke on his tongue. Worse case, get children's services involved if you think her care is not adequate. I would with the seriousness of this situation. There's treatment for epilepsy and lifestyle coaching like at the suggested rehab centre. Perhaps it was a matter of money she didn't want to spend, her father could offer if the communication is there.
Good luck getting the right help for your stepson,
Laura

she doesn't have MS she didn't have a stroke,
just to give you an idea of how complicated it is to diagnose.
no wait Hemiparesis involves also the face on the opposite side of brain ischemia therefore Stroke or TIA can't be ruled out.
she should get an appointment with a Neurologist see what he thinks. do the blood tests first.
What tests did they run on him at the ER? CBC, ESR, CT scan to the brain?
I read that with right-hemisphere stroke, that would have caused partial paralysis of the left side, the side of the face affected should be the right not the left.
there should have been a lot more going on with slurred/impaired speech, bad coordination, confusion, really bad tingling on the left side and pain, sharp headache.
one other very specific symptom of a stroke should be inability to calculate distance from objects, like missing an object when trying to reach it.
I don't think a TIA could cause all that and if it was a stroke it should appear on the MRI / CT scan.
I don't know why the mother didn't trust the doctors, it would be crucial to know if they found clinical evidence of a stroke or they just supposed it was.
any ways it's very likely that whatever it was it is affecting his cognitive functions too, slowed them down a bit. he might experience loss of short term memory and fear.
He should do at least CBC+ESR there's a possibility that the problem originated from an infection maybe viral!
Thank you for your answer. He went and the mother said it was a stroke which I don`t think it was or just that at most.
Thank you for the help. We are very concerned and want him to get the best care available.
I want to thank you very much for your response. My step son`s mom called and said he walked into her room late one night stating he was not feeling well then flipped on the light switch. It was at that time she noticed he was body was swollen and he fell to the floor, eyes started rolling in the back of his head and started shaking uncontrollably. She stated his left side of the face is a little distorted and he has limited use of his left side. She said the doctor wanted him to go to another hospital for rehab but she declined. The doctor will not give us any answers because she will not let him. We are concerned if her course of action is the right course. He is only 15 and we need help
I agree, that sounds like what my dog went through with seizures. In her case they were caused by a brain tumor, but other things can cause seizures.
Could be a seizure. It definitely sounds worthy of a trip to the ER.
eyes rolling in the back of the head what do you mean exactly?
left side of the body paralyzed do you mean it literally? you can't use the arm and the leg on that side?
