Cataract Surgery: Crystalens?

I'm scheduled for cataract surgery on 9/7/11 and will get either Crystalens or a standard distance lens. Which is best for me?
A little background:
I'm 53. I found out I had cataracts last summer. Then in December, I developed "myopic degeneration." A retina specialist treated it with injections, and in July said I could go ahead with cataract surgery.
The ophthalmologist recommended Crystalens so I'll probably go with that but I've done some research and am a little concerned about problems related to the lens reported on medhelp.org. Can someone make a recommendation or tell me of pros and con's based on experience?
