Caught a bad throat after surgery! Is this normal?

Last Wednesday I was experiencing a really bad pain in my right side. Turned out to be my appendix and I had to get them removed. My recovery has gone well, pain has subsided. Last night I felt extremely nauseas and ended up vomiting, I woke up this morning with a really sore throat, swollen tonsils and some blisters. Is it normal to catch this after surgery? Should I visit my GP?

Call your surgeon first.  He will call your primary care if he needs to.
