Cholesterol numbers question

Cholesterol numbers question

Hello,

I'm wondering if someone could explain to me how my total cholesterol is still 202 (same as last year) but the tris, HDL and LDL numbers are a bit different. I've looked at sites but can't find specifically an answer to that.

Here's my numbers:
2009:
Total Cholesterol: 202
Triglycerides: 145mg
HDL:57
LDL:116

And here is 2010's numbers:
Total Cholesterol: 202
Triglycerides:  142
HDL: 73
LDL: 101

So although the numbers have changed a bit how did I end up with a total cholesterol number of 202 for 2009 and 2010? If you could please explain or direct me to a site it would be most appreciated.

They do a ratio of all your numbers and that's how they come up with a total number. Your total is borderline and needs to come done, they want it to be under 200. Your triglycerides are also almost borderline , they want that to be under 150. You HDL looks good. This is the good cholesterol. I'll have to check on the LDL. I think that should be under 100. Look up cholesterol ratio and hopefully that will explain exactly how they get the numbers.
