Cut on leg result of broken leg

How do I make sure a cut I got my legt does not get infected. I dropped glass on my bathroom floor and it shattered and  piece pierced my leg.
Now it is still sore. I cleaned througly I have been putting ointment on it every day and a bandaid.

Cleaning out a wound by yourself, without professional assistance, is not always possible.

Soreness does not always indicatre infection. If there is redness anywhere around the wound you need to go to a physician immediately for oral antibiotics. A topical preparation may not affect organisms that have been forced deeply below the skin. They may or not decide to re-enter and clean out the wound.

Have you had a tetanus in the last 10 yrs??? you have done all the right things in making sure it is clean, are you sure there is no more glass still in your leg, i would go to get it checked out just to be on safe side and if you havent had a tetanus injection you will need one, good luck
