Did you have an ultrasound of your calf done? That is one way they tell if there is a clot in there. D dimer test, to the best of my knowledge, tells the doctor if there are certain things in your blood that indicate your body is breaking down a clot. If your doc. says a negative d dimer is all you need, then you can probably feel comfortable. But, if it's bugging you, ask for an ultrasound.

I had a DVT once while pregnant and then went through a couple of years fighting the paranoia. :P  I now take a baby aspirin every day to help guard against future clots. I also try to eat lots of garlic and cayenne pepper to naturally keep blood thin. Sitting where I am now, I think I would feel comfortable with a negative d dimer.
