ESR and CRP elevated

ESR and CRP elevated

I recently had an ESR checked by my hematologist because it was elevated 3 years ago during a hospitalization for minimal change kidney disease and pulmonary embolism. At the time of the hospitalization it was 112. This past test came back at 28. 2 weeks later I saw my primary physician and he rechecked the ESR and also checked my CRP. The ESR had increased to 34 in 2 weeks and the CRP was elevated at 1.2.

I'm not sure if I should be worried about this. My providers seem to think that this is "normal" but I don't know if I should accept this or not. My younger brother has a history of some kind of arthritis. I suffer from fatigue, but at the moment my kidneys are fine (I think) and I really don't have any other symptoms.

I don't want to brush this off as nothing if I should see a specialist for this. I know that both the ESR and CRP are very generic tests for inflammation.

Does anyone think that I should get an opinion from a specialist or just recheck the tests in about 1 month?

Thanks!

drs say that ESR normal ranges from 1-20.  I am someone with ESR of around 57-67 which I'm worried about and like you, would like to see a specialist.

I suggest that you consult with your doctor again.   I wonder if you feel any complication with your health right now.  with me, I'm sometimes very weak to do anything but no pain.

My ESR is 107.  I have been to a rheumatologist and they said I had nothing that their specialty would treat, such as polymalagia rheumatica.  I am a breast cancer survivor for 2 years.  My symptoms are just like I felt when I was on chemo.  I am so tired I cannot work full-time.  I have to lie down and rest 2 to 3 hours a day.  I cannot do any social activities or even clean house, I am so tired.  My PCP has put me on 30 mg of prednisone a day and that helped for about 4 to 5 days, but now I am right back in the same position.  My oncologist does not feel I have metastasis (spread of cancer).  I am very frustrated at this point.  If anyone can help who has had a similar problems, I would appreciate any comments please.
