Eye irritated after over 24 hours with contact out.

I have been wearing contacts for a few years now. I have always had problems with discharge coming out of my eye frequently during the day/night ( I wear Night & Day contacts). The last few months, I have been unable to wear my contacts for more than a few hours at a time. My eyes become red and feel as if they are burning. This usually stops within 10 minutes of me taking them out. I took out my contacts yesterday morning after wearing them for over a full day since they were not bothering me. Now, over 24 hours later, my right eye is still irritated. It is constantly burning and every once in a while will bring tears and turn my eye red. Any advice?

Are they disposable contacts? If not, it definitely sounds like you need a new pair. If they are, it sounds like you have (as the first response says) pink eye, or some other type of conjunctivitis. Go to the doctor (or eye doctor). Wear your glasses until its cleared up and then get new lenses... DO NOT wear the old ones anymore!
