Eyes are red at night time, artificial tears don't help

For the last 6 months ill wake up with clear white eyes which will stay usually until the night time around 7 or 8pm. I tried artificial tears but it didn't seem to help with the redness, but it did help with the discomfort.(redness usually starts from corner of eyes and goes in gradually)

I wear ortho-k contact lenses which I sleep with. It reshapes my eye while I sleep so I can have good vision throughout the day without glasses or contacts, I take them out in the morning.
Alcohol also seems to speed up the redness.

I'm getting checked for a retinal detachment but I dont know if that's the cause. The doctor says there's places in the whites of my eyes with no pressure, could that be a cause?

Thanks
Max

Are you getting enough sleep? A lot of people get red eyes when they're tired, so if it's happening every evening, I'm wondering if you're just not getting enough rest. I'm not a medical professional though, so best to see what your eye dr or PCP think.
