Finger injury still sensitive/painful after months

Hello, hoping someone might be able to help me with this.

I was playing guitar and I hit the strings with my index finger. I didn't even notice at the time and it didn't hurt or even draw blood. But the finger was sensitive for a few days and then it started to swell. A few days later the entire top half of the finger was twice the size. I went to see a doctor and she x-rayed it and said she couldn't see anything inside it although the x-ray doesn't pick up everything. There was a purple dot on the finger tip pad which she thought might have been a splinter so she picked away a few layers of skin there with a sterile needle and tried to squeeze it out. She thought she might have got a little something but the finger was still extremely painful with a very sharp pain and it was hugely swollen. So she bandaged it up and I was put on a course of anti biotics for about a week. I soaked it in hot water each day and finished the course.

A big scab formed on the tip and all the skin peeled off, eventually the swelling went down and the pain got a lot better and the scab fell off.

I am now about 3 - 4 months later and it seems mostly healed at first glance, but it is still very sensitive and the skin is dented and creased. It looks indented with an uneven ridge. I wonder if it has formed a scar or if it is still healing. There is also a pin head size lump which is quite hard. The finger still hurts sometimes even when I'm not doing anything, and is sensitive all the time, and every time I try to use it to hold something or I try to swipe the screen on my phone etc. it is too sensitive to touch. I have basically not used my finger for 3 months and feel like I almost lost use of it. I can press it hard with my other finger and it doesn't feel any pain which makes me think there is no foreign body inside, but it hurts at other times and is sensitive all the time.

I wonder what my options are now? It is a big problem for me because it is the index finger on my right hand. It feels sensitive whenever I pick up a glass or hold a computer mouse or when I am typing and my job involves computers. I wonder if I could return to my doctor and request a visit to a hospital professional and maybe they could cut it open and fix whatever is going on in there. I read that scar tissue can sometimes be fixed in a hospital.

Hope someone can help with this. Thanks in advance!
