Frostnip/ Frostbite question

Frostnip/ Frostbite question

As a child, I frequently played out in the cold for hours at a time during the winter. Usually until we couldn't feel or move our fingers and more. To warm up my hands I would start by running them under cold water until that stopped hurting too much and then slowly warmed the water till I could move my fingers better and could stand the warm/hot water. My hands would be greyish with orange spots/patches. And then red for a little while after warming them again. Never did I have blisters though, so I guess pretty mild frostbite or frostnip?

My question is, as an adult I have absolutely no tolerance to cold. Going out to get the mail just 10 feet out my door will make my skin burn on 25 degree days. And once my hands do get chilled, it takes hours for them to "warm" up again. By warm I mean usuable, because my fingers get so stiff or numb like that I have problems doing fine motor things like writing. Could this related to repeated frostnip exposure as a child and there for permanent? Or is there something I can do about it as an adult now?

Also, if it makes a difference, I think I also may have a small circulation issue, as if I stand for long periods of time, my legs get a little purpley with orange/white patches, but that goes away if I put my feet up for a few minutes. And I do not have thyroid problems, am not overweight, non smoker, generally healthy otherwise.
