Gall Bladder Surgery

I am 35 and am having my gall bladder removed. I am nervous about the surgery and how I will feel after. But, my biggest concern is how fragile my stitches will be. I have 2 kids 1 almost 7 yrs old and the other almost 3. I am afraid of them jumping on me. I am having the laprascopic curgery - can anyone tell me about their experience, and what to expect.

Thanks

I had the surgery yesterday and everything went well. I am just a bit sore and am walking around like a turtle. I did not throw up because they gave me a pach on my neck that I can wear for up to 3 days. I also got vicaden since I get sick off perks. It helps a little but makes me sleepy more thn anything. I feel like my right side hurts the most and I am definately feel uncomfortable getting in and out of bed. Thank you for all your support.

My friend had hers done by keyhole surgery with no stitches needed to be removed as they were dissolvable, she was absoultely fine with no pain and was able to go back to work 2 days later. You have to be careful not to lift anything to heavy for a few months, other than that you should be fine.

Hi, I had Laproscopic Gall Bladder surgery in 2009, I was 25. I had been in severe pain for days and had no idea what was wrong with me until I woke up in the night and was ORANGE! Went to the hospital and they did emergency surgery - going down my throat to remove the gall stones. I was told that they would be performing surgery the next morning to remove my Gall Bladder. I was scared of being put under because I fear not being in control of my body, so it was a little frightening. My Surgeon was very reassuring and explained the entire procedure to me, said the most common side effect was pain in the shoulder from using gas to make room to perform the surgery. So, I went to surgery woke up in recovery and they pump your stomach with gas to make room then a 1 inch incision is made about three inches above the belly button and a few small incisions on the right side to put surgical tools in....they do this all externally and the gall bladder is removed from the incision in the belly button. My doctor did not use any stitches or anything just surgical tape. Almost like butterfly stitches. I do have the 2, 1 inch scars and the two tiny incisions. I had a 3 year old and had just had a baby about 6 months earlier and I was able to take care of the children with help because I couldn't lift anything. Only pain i experienced was the shoulder pain and pain from the gall bladder surgery but it wasn't severe.
