Heart Rate/Blood Pressure

If this isn't the right place for this please point me to the right area.

I have recently been seeing a new doctor and every time I go they check my blood pressure. Well I am 24 weigh around 175lbs not active as I have had a lot of bad knee injuries and surgeries. But lately they have been using words like "tacacartic" (sp?). Now he wants me on some medicine for that. He also wants me checking my pulse every hour today. So I started at 2:00 EST and he told me count for 30 seconds and multiply that by 2. I did and I came away with 108BPM. So I'm just wondering if this is something I should really be worried about or well any info would be great.
