Heart rate

my heart rate is between 85 to 125 is that to high?

A resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute is considered "abnormal".

On the other hand, if you have been exercising heavily, a rate of 120 or so for short periods is nothing to get upset over.

Certain exercise protocols suggest you exercise to the point where your heart rate increases to a specific amount. As long as the blood pressure is not abnormally high, this is reasonable.

I had a quick look at your profile, I assume it says your 60 years of age?

To start with one half of your question well do the upper hart rate first, to use a simplified equation your upper hart rate is about 220 - age = max hart rate (220-60= 160 BPM) your maximum hart rate according to statistics should be around 160 BPM. This is due to your max hart rate efficiency diminishes every year your living and get older, no matter what you do (it is genetic), but if you are able to achieve more than this it is ok nothing wrong with it or to worry about unless your always up by your maximum pulse no matter what you do, then you should consult your GP, or if your getting hart pains during activity you should stop and seek a GP.

The lower pulse is a bit of trickery, the pulse is set by different needs and parameters of efficiency.
Firstly you need to know that the hart pumps around blood from your lungs with oxygen, to be able to let your muscles and organs work, everything you do requires oxygen for it is used by every cell in the body to convert energy (burn calories), the larger body you have the more your body needs oxygen due to having more mass of cells (even fat cells need oxygen), this demand increases when in action and prompts your hart rate to go up.
So lower weight requires less oxygen.

The 2nd thing is the size and strength of your hart, the stronger  and bigger hart is more efficient it will be able to work, pumping more blood with less beats (will allow to clear out more blood out of your hart per beat, usually your hart never completely empties). This is usually a fitness effect and your lover hart rate will improve as your fitness improves, and is a sign your hart does not need to beat so fast to deliver the amount of oxygen your body requires at rest.

So to lower your hart rate you need to:
1, lose weight in a "good pace" if your heavy you need to tackle this from a balanced diet (reducing your caloric intake to lower than your expenditure)  and moderate exercise, walking, light jogging, when starting out it is good to be able to speak during the training, if you cant simply lower the pace.  

2. if you are slim and have no hart issues and find that Walking and moderate excercise is to simple, a jogg with a pulse watch having your pulse at about 50% of max with an even tempo for around 20 min as a starting goal.

in your case this is 220-60=160-85=75/2=37+85= 130 BPM ish

130 BPM is about 50% of your maximum capacity (at the moment) and any exercise around and above this level is anaerobic work, and will train your hart.

Exercise in moderate amounts on a regular basis is far more important to be able to achieve big results fast, The recommended guidelines for health benefits are about 30 min moderate exercise a day.

hello ma'am.. a normal heart rate or pulse is 72 beats per second.. your's is a bit fast but i guess not a serious matter.. sometimes it does increase due to any infection like cough or cold etc.. if you experience no severe serious problem no need to worry.. i guess you might have a high bp also so that might be the reason and is okk in that case.. hope this helps..
