High blood pressure/young adult

For the past 2 months my BP has hovered around 150/100 with a resting pulse of 100. I am 32 years old and need to lose weight but am not obese. My DR prescribed anxiety meds and a beta blocker but I am concerned about being able to go off of the beta blocker once I lose weight. (I was also put on meds recently for hypothyroidism). Anyone have a similar situation?

Yes, they are checking my thyroid levels again since I have been on meds for about 6 weeks but today prescribed Lopressor. I'm just worried once I start it I will be on it for life.

Hi

Usually hypothyroid gives a person lower blood pressure. Have you discussed this with your doctor.  Your readings are very high.
