I'm REALLY hoping someone can help!

I'm REALLY hoping someone can help!

I'll shorten up a long story. I've been suffering with pelvic pain (knife like pains up inside my vagina) and a feeling swelling in pressure in the pelvic area.  After ruling many things out my gyno has now discovered while doing a pelvic exam that my pelvic bone (the part they can feel from up inside the vagina) is extremely sore and hurts when it's touched or pressed on.  She seems to think it's because i had a baby 5 months ago. She also said it feels very inflammed.  My question is has anyone ever had this happen? I did have pelvic bone pain when i was pregnant but it was nothing like this. This is constant..not just when i'm moving or lifting my legs.  I'm really worried that i may have an infection or cancer in the pelvic bone. Does anyone know if either of those would cause my symptoms. I've read that pelvic bone infection is a risk with surgery and i did have a csection in June.  I asked the gyno but she said there's no infection but she never did any xray or anything..just a pelvic exam so how can she say there's no infection in the bone? Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would recommend going and seeing your regular physician instead of the gyno. They can do the needed x-rays and have more knowledge about the bones etc

I would go back to your PCP/Family physician and try to obtain a order for a CT of your pelvis.  I am not sure if your pelvic bone is extremely bruised and swollen or you have fractured it.

Sounds like this GYN is clueless and/or not interested in doing any more investigation about why you have pelvic swelling.

She just figured it was from pregnancy and said i should try physio...i'm really worried though that there is an infection in the bone...i have an appointment with my family md on thursday...i'm goint to tell her i want a CT scan done..i can see her giving me problems with it though...getting anything done medically around her is like pulling teeth.

Five months ago you had the baby and you are still having problems; this is definitely NOT normal.

"Try physio?"  Definitely don't get that one.  Well, if it is that difficult for your physician to help you out then I would recommend looking for one that will.  Remember, you are the paying customer.  Obviously, there is a problem.

The CT should pick up if there is something going on with your pelvic bone.  Make sure it is ordered WITH IV AND/OR ORAL CONTRAST; this gives better imaging.

All the best with this and the little one.

that's the thing...there aren't many drs here accepting patients and to tell you the truth...they're all alike...not to mention the wait lists around here for any testing is beyond ridiculous.  I'm definately asking her for a ct scan and if she won't do it i'm going directly to the ER and having them set me up for one. enough is enough!!!

Put the idea that you have cancer at the worst outcome you could get. Have a scan throughout the area, and they will definitely get the answers to your problem

Hi,

I had a similar pain and was told by an Osteopath that I had a very swollen and extremely tight Pelvic floor muscle but it turned out that I had torn my hamstring where it attached to the Ischipoubic ramus bone which is a bone in the pelvis right next to the vagina. It tore so much that it tore some of the bone away with it. It was an ultra sound that picked it up, not a CT scan, so I would ask your doctor for an ultra sound, but ask for one to look for Iscial Tuberosity Bursitis, as this will get a good view of the area your pain is in and the person doing the ultrasound is trained to pick up anything going on in that area.

Yes, I would get the pelvic CT first, and then go from there.  This could be a number of things and I would NOT begin to start to diagnose you.  IF a more specific image is needed later, than so be it.  This is my professional opinion; I am an RN.
