Sorry to hear that you have Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Do you remember being bitten by a tick?
Glad that at least they know what you have so that you can now get the appropriate treatment.
Doxycycline is the first line of treatment for this illness.
In the meantime keep drinking plenty of fluids and taken pain relief as recommend on the packet.
As you are seeing the disease specialist tomorrow, but your throat is bad now, perhaps you should see your doctor today.
wishing you a speeding recovery.
Thank you. My bloodwork actually came back positive for Rocky Mountain spotted fever. So the gastroenoligist has been put on hold and I am seeing an infectious disease specialist Friday. I am really hoping he can help me. Old symptoms go away. Then the next, new ones come on :( I am currently experiencing pressure in my throat ONLY right side that literally feels like someone has a finger and is stabbing it in my throat. Very annoying/ worry some...
Glad to hear that your symptoms have subsided, albeit you are still have having a problem. I am glad that the doctor is now referring you to see a gastroenterologist.
Hope your gastroenterologist appointment comes through very soon. Let me know how you get on.
Take care.
Best wishes.
As I previously said, I have been to 8 doctors... Two of those were er visits. I am trying to do everything possible and realize its not possible to get a diagnoses over the Internet, you would have to be an idiot to believe that... However, when you have spent now three weeks in and out of doctors, you kind of start to seek comfort/ advice in others who are experiencing similar things and this was the point of my post. As far as my appointment, the pains have subsided though I still feel sickly my dr is sending me to a gastroenterologist . Thank you everyone for yor suggestions
It's a pity that some people do not practice what they preach on these forums!
Hope the doctor on the 14th was able to help you.
Best wishes.
It is not possible to provide a diagnosis on an internet forum.
In the future, do not hesitate to head for an ER when experiencing any sort of difficulty in breathing.
A good physician should be able to come to a diagnosis regardless of whether or not he is your "regular" physician.
As ,mentioned by another poster a good ER has equipment that the average practice does not have. Plus you get the benefit of having several physicians available to review your symptoms.
It does sound like a gastric problem.
There is a possibility that you may have enteritis when the bowels are inflamed for various reasons.
The problem may be with your bowels and/or diverticular disease. Diverticulitis is very painful when the little pouches get blocked.
The other possibility is Helicobacter Pylori. This is usually more accurately confirmed by breath or a stool test. Blood tests can show up incorrect readings.
Hope you feel better soon.
I think what you have been doing is right. You are keeping a close eye on your symptoms and have been to the doctors. It could be many things like you mentioned maybe appendicitis, like you thought. With apendicitis it can be bacterial so your immune system is trying to fight it. Gastritis is another possibility which would cause the pain to move around.
My 7 year old had what you had for almost 10 days......we rushed him to the Montreal Childrens hospital thinking appendicitis also and by the time we got there he looked completely normal playing and jumping around in front of the doctor. Doctor said to come back if it is worse....but that it must be probably a virus that will run its course.
The internet is a great source of info which is great so that you see the doctor and are already well informed. However sometimes our symptoms are similar to very dangerous illnesses and it can make us freak out. I've done it many times myself HA HA
Also....if you go to the doctors office he does not have all the equipment in his office like a lab and X-Ray. So going to the emergency room may allow the doctor to be more able to do test right at that moment or even consult a general surgeon.
the most important is that you are able to stay hydrated/eat and that you are going to the bathroom regularly and able to pass gas.
