Is this constipation?

Hi,

I have an issue with bowel movements that started yesterday. After I finished eating yesterday, I had a strong urge to go to the bathroom (it was a diarrhea type of pain) so I kind of held it in and didn't end up going at the time (Big mistake, I know). Later on, I felt gassy and nauseous and there was pain in my lower abdomen. So I went to the bathroom, but was unable to use it properly as there was a stabbing pain in my lower abdomen and rectum? (Not sure if it's the rectum or anus, but it's below my lower back, a stabbing pain there. I was unable to stand properly due to pain and ended up falling asleep with a heating pad on.
Now, today I tried to go to the bathroom but I can't since I feel that sharp pain in my backside whenever I try to "push". There is also still pain in my lower abdomen when I use the bathroom - even to just urinate.
Does this sounds like constipation? I have never felt this kind of pain with constipation before - I can't even push. What should I do?
Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

sounds like your having spasms in your rectum . when I had those it felt very much like I needed a bowel movement but you really don't. It's the spasms making you feel that way. The heating pad will calm them down and allow the stool to come down into the rectum which you can then feel and have a normal movement. At least that's the way it worked for me.

It does sound like constipation. As long as you are not having severe pain like in an intestinal blockage suppositories should help. In the past, I have used this laxative tea. You drink it at night before bed and it'll get your bowels moving by morning. You can get it from the tea section at your grocery store. I'm pretty sure many stores sell this brand of tea.

Sounds like your bowels are blocked up.
There is probably also a lot of wind trap.

If you can, then make an appointment to see your doctor for a prescription to loosen up the stools, give you some pessaries and/or ointment to help the stools move out.  If your condition gets much worse, you may need to go to the ER.

If a pharmacy is open, the pharmacist can assist if you are not able to get to see your doctor.  There are glycerine suppositories that can be inserted into the anal passage to help to ease the discomfort of trying to empty your bowels.

Now you have learned the heard way.   If you got to go, you got to go.

Hope you get relief soon.
