Itchy tongue and dry mouth

Itchy tongue and dry mouth

I took a trip to New Orleans for 3 days (lots of drinking involved). The very next weekend I went to NYC (lots of drinking involved and a whole lot of smoking too). When I got back from these trips I was really tired from lack of proper rest. I felt like I caught a cold with chest congestion. The congestion and cough eventually toned down but I developed a rash in my mouth. The tip of my tongue taste buds seem to be swollen, itches to the touch and hurts a little if I scrape my teeth on the tongue. Prior to that I used a tongue scraper multiple times to clean my tongue. It has been over 2 weeks now and there are no signs of healing. The tongue feels the same though the rest of the mouth is not that bad like it was before.

I haven't seen a doctor since I thought I caused trauma with scraping the tongue too much but I am wondering how I could have used so much pressure on my tip to cause this reaction. I don't have any discomfort when eating or swallowing at all that is why I haven't seen a doctor. Anyone tell me if this is normal 2 weeks and still the taste buds swollen.

Might not hurt to see a dentist or physician. Also, try putting some salt in warm water and then swishing it around your mouth a few minutes then spit it out, the salt might heal your tongue.
