Joint Pain (10+) rapid onset

About 3 months ago I was moving a bed and got a slight groin pull. Took it easy for a week and iced daily went away.
2 weeks later reinjured and it went bi-lateral. Shortly after that I developed extreame pain in all my joints in the mater of 2 days - lake really bad flu symptoms. Muscles on both sides of all major joints are in constant spasm pulling at joints. Large joints (hips) have most pain. Inactivity makes it much worse. 2+ months now with little or no change, My wife developed the same symptoms within one week of me.
Any suggestions or similar problems from anyone?

Thanks for the reply.
I went to the mayo clinic online and narrowed it down to a symtomatic disease, a member of the arthristis group called PMR "polymyalgia rheumatica" after a lot of reading I have 95% of the symptons.
   The final kicker >>
Corticosteroids
In most cases, the usual polymyalgia rheumatica treatment is a low, daily dose of an oral corticosteroid drug such as prednisone. Relief should be almost immediate. If you're not feeling better in a few days, it's likely you don't have polymyalgia rheumatica. In fact, your response to medication is one way your doctor may confirm the diagnosis.
low dose prednisone my sister in law had left here so I took 5 mg. Within 12 hours there was a noticable relief from pain and tightening of my muscles.
Yhis is the second day I have been taking it (2.5mg 3 x a day) and I danced a little jig when I got up this morning. Pain is down 60% swelling is almost gone. I called my doctor to have the indicator blood work done before the prednisone removes the traces. The test are not conclusive but indicate. The reaction to prednisone is a very conclusive test.
It would seem this is one of those symptomatic diseases they don't know much about, how you get, why, etc. They do know it will go away on it's own in 1 to 2 years but at the rate I was going after 2 and 1/2 months of that horrible pain I was ready for the nut house...;-}...
The mayo clinic has a nice informative site and once I had an idea of what it might be the internet pretty much confirmed it.
I went looking for holistic treatments after and found spray topical magnessium cholride dailly as needed. It is suppossed to be rapidly absorbed into the blood strem and work as well or better then meds. I ordered a piint and will try it and post back here...
   Thank You for your concern.
Regards,,,,Richard
