This is normal and is caused mainly from gases escaping the joint.another cause is the movement of the joints ,ligaments and tendons .If you are concerned its always good to have it checked out good luck
Persistent Crepitus (the popping, cracking, etc. of joints) is more associated with OA (Osteoarthritis) and patients over the age of 40.
However, it is NORMAL to experience crepitus occasionally.
If you are under 40; consult you physician about this as the above poster recommended. Persistent Crepitus is NOT normal at ANY age and especially for a patient under the age of 40.
