hi liz.. i can't tell you the no of times i fainted during my periods and that too in front of people and in the public LOL.... it's normal i guess.. in my case it was that i have very painful menstrual cramps so bad that i can't bear it and have to take a medicine.. now this pain and the flow of blood used to lower my blood pressure and as a result i felt dizzy and then things blacking out and finally fainted.. do you too experience pains dear?? it might be due to lack of iron also.. very good that you take iron.. you can start taking vitamin b12 also and when you feel like you are going to faint try to get a little amount of glucose immediately.. that helped me.. hope it works for you too.. good luck.. god bless..
