Mold on food

I'm not sure exactly where to ask this question.

I was cooking today and noticed some mold on the bottom of the onions I was going to use. I read that it's okay to cut off the moldy parts and still use the onions if they are ok inside.

After cutting off the moldy parts, I poked myself under one of my fingernails with the tip of the knife (which might have touched the mold) and cut myself a little bit.

Any thoughts on what I should do if anything?

Thanks :)

Don't worry. Nothing will happen to you. If you are concerned, stick your finger in a small container filled with hydrogen peroxide, for five or ten minutes.

Onions often develop "black-mold". Just peel the outside layer off, rinse, slice and cook. The interior of the onion will not be infected. Anything is possible, but it is unlikely you will suffer any ill-effects from your cut.

Never ever use, touch or eat any food if it has MOLD.  It is not worth-it risking your health.  Please take very good care of yourselves.
