Morning Nausea - Male.

Hi people, almost every morning I've always woken up feeling sick till I've had something to eat(thought everyone felt this way. In the past few months if I get up extremely early - Around 7 am for me, I have to sit up and bring air up, if I lay on my side it feels like the air builds up till I sit up right and bring it up, this is accompanied by the nausea of course.

I have been sick a few times with blood also, I've shown 3 doctors the picture of it, one of them in ER, he was relieved by it as the other doctors were but noone could diagnose me - the first doctor said it was unusual for someone to feel sick every morning, another mentioned acid reflux etc.

Oh and this morning I had halve a protein shake, some scrambled egg, like 4 forkfuls and had to run to the bathroom shortly after it.

I have an EDG this Thursday. Just looking for ideas of what it could be, if this is the wrong forum please feel free to move and apologies.

Well I'll be sure to let you know what happens on Thursday, as for the anxiety/depression may actually be the cause of it, thanks. :).

Well sure, anxiety and depression tend to go hand in hand.  Way back when I was clueless about handling anxiety, my anxiety would fester, overwhelm my ability to sleep and eventually I'd end up deeply depressed along with hallucinating (was put on Prozac for six months to shake me out of escalating suicidal self-talk).

I'd tentatively interpret your symptom as your body's way of trying to get your attention (about anxiety and/or depression needing to be addressed in some fashion, either through meds or lifestyle or self-training or therapy or more calming 'me time' breaks during the day, or some combination of those).

In your shoes, I'd first try drinking a cup of camomille tea late in the evening (hoping for a deeper, more anxiety relieving sleep).  You might also avoid blue light in non-incandescent light emitters (PC/TV, CFLs etc.) for the couple of hours before bedtime, through wearing sunglasses or yellow tinted sunglasses).

To actually address an underlying concern that may be leading to anxiety/depression, you might try learning to make use of meditation breaks in your day (purposefully clearing your mind, and just focusing on slow even breathing for a set period of perhaps 10-30 minutes).

Sometimes I wake myself, I know I am rarely woken by an alarm - this morning I was though. I'd say within 5mins it starts to happen - the air thing. Sometimes can be immediately upon wakening. I felt rather meh this morning but maybe you are right about the anxiety.. I managed to eat some and had half a shake.. Kept it down for a wee while.. but the sick feeling builds and builds sometimes to the point I am sick.. other times I can fight it till 10am and it starts going away?. If it is anxiety why does it only last till a certain time? rather weird.

I'd say I had more depression than anxiety.

I've found that sometimes, anxiety will lie dormant for extended periods and then reappear as a fresh symptom.  I suspect this might be happening with you.

Do you get out of bed within two or three minutes of waking up, or do you lie there for more than say, ten minutes or so?   If the latter, then at the end of a longish delay, you experience the need to get up and bring up air, (in which case, I'm more likely to suspect your syndrome is part of an anxiety pattern).

How are you awakened in the morning?  Alarm clock/radio, gradually brightening room (sunrise or a sunrise simulator), or?

I'd say anxiety I do have sometimes but I don't think it is related, as it almost always goes away around the same time?. And in terms of getting up well.. sometimes I don't really get up 'sit up' or anything else, I just lay awake, but the air begins to rise inside to the point where I have to get up and bring up air? so to speak.

Are you or had you earlier been coping with any other general health problems?  eg. anxiety, drug withdrawal

Are you getting up very slowly, or, are you getting up quickly?  If getting up quickly, I suspect dizziness (which may seem mild and easy to ignore) might be part of the the nausea sensation you're experiencing (and nausea would be expected to accompany dizziness).

I've been tested for the H pylori in a stool sample, apparently it came back normal, any other ideas?

This may be chronic gastritis due to H pylori infection. You need to be tested for this bug. Good luck.
