My broken ankle hurts when I stand, why?

I fractured the lower part of my fibula near the growth plate one week ago, and was in a Splint for 3 days. 4 days ago, I got a short leg cast, and about 3 days ago, when i had it elevated my ankle didn't hurt, but when I put my leg down, like to sit normal or stand on my other foot, I can feel my fracture, like the actual bone, hurting and then an immense pressure feels like a vice around my ankle, the pressure fades after a few minutes, but as long as my foot is not elevated, my bone hurts. I had not discomfort before 3 days ago. Why does this happen and can it be stopped?

Hello~

When your leg is elevated, the blood is flowing away from the area that hurts, when you lower it or walk on it, the blood flow returns, you may be feeling that pressure. Also, if there is any swelling, it will not be too noticeable when the leg is elevated, but will be when lowered. I would certainly talk to the surgeon and doctor about it to see if all is going well since the surgery.
