Mysterious lumps on the head

Mysterious lumps on the head

Hello, iam very concerned about these mysterious lumps that my daughter has on her head.  She is eight and the very first time she came up and showed me was when she was seven.  These lumps stays for a day or two and disappears.  By the way these lumps are quite big (size of a loonie) and some of them are soft as well as some hard ones.  She had about 3 last week and the very next day when i took her to the family physician it disappeared, so he couldnt do much as he says he needs to see those lumps... i took my daughter to him last year when she first had these lumps and he said it's nothing to worry about if they disappear and i should be only concerned if they stay. Now this is happening more frequently and as a parent iam really worried. Sometimes these lumps are there for the whole night and disappears in the morning so we are not having any luck to show it to the doctor...any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Suzie~I am sorry about your daughter's problem and can understand your concern.

I would take her back to the doctor, or even a dermatologist. They could be a form of hives, a bite, or even sebaceous cysts. A sebaceous cysts is when the pores in the skin get blocked by body oil and sometimes they can form these lumps. Normally, they are benign.

Good luck and keep us posted
Susie
