Odd bruising?

I woke up a week and three days ago, and noticed that there was a massive bruise on my calf.  The bruise was all kinds of different colors.  There was a hard lump in the middle of the bruise, and the middle of the bruise where the lump was a yellow color.  Around the lump was a circle that was a purple and black color.  Around the purple and black circle was a blue and brown color.  Over the next few days the blue color started spreading down my leg.  It has been over a week now, and the bruise isn't getting any better.  I do not think it is getting worse, but it isn't getting better.  It doesn't hurt unless somebody touches it or it bumps against something.  I would like it to get better though because I cannot wear skirts, dresses, shorts, etc. because the bruise looks so awful.  I have no idea how I ended up with that bruise.  I would think I would remember doing something to cause that, but I have no idea.  I didn't fall, run into anything, or hurt myself at all...it just appeared one day when I woke up.  What causes that, and how can it get better?

well, if it doesnt' get better see a doctor. You could be low in a blood clotting factor or maybe vitamin K. Perhaps it is just a bad bruise but it sure seems like you would have known what you ran into or something. Maybe you hit a blood vessel and broke it. It will heal if that is the case. Keep an eye on it.

My leg isn't swollen at all, and it doesn't hurt unless something touches or bumps against the lump in the bruise.  It doesn't hurt for something to touch the blue part, just the knot.  There is no open sore, and the colors haven't changed at all.  All of the colors are there at the same time, and that was something that seemed a little strange to me.  I've never gotten a bruise that bad on my calf before, and I honestly don't think I've ever gotten a bruise on my calf.  I didn't know if those were worse for some reason.

Hi, sorry about your leg. Is your leg swollen? Does it hurt more than just the way a bruise feels? I am concerned because you said it spread down the leg. Is there an open sore? The changes in color are normal but I wonder if you don't have a sprain or an infection? I would go to  a doctor just in case.
