Orbital floor fracture

Orbital floor fracture

My ER doctor wrote on discharge paper, head CAT scan- no bleeds as per radiologist but facial bone CT shows nasal fracture and R orbital floor fracture with muscle involvement. BUT, I'm having double vision. Is this normal? Do I have to get orbital surgery to gain back my vision? Is orbital surgery necessary? Would I lose my vision because of above stated? Thank you in advance!

Yes, your symptoms correlate with the diagnosis; R orbital floor fracture with muscle involvement.

You should be consulting an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon as soon AS POSSIBLE.  A Neurosurgeon or a Neuo-Ophthalmologist might have to be consulted as well; related to the vision.

I can't say whether your vision will return to normal or worsen related to this.

Were you in a car accident or fight?

I would follow up with a opthalmologist on this as soon as possible, he will be able to lead you in the right direction as to what to do.

I.was involved in a fight. Not caused by me tho. I'm seeing my family doctor on Monday to get second opinion. He would probably direct me to eye doctor. So, is orbital fracture surgery more cosmetic purpose? Based on my research it sounds like that. Anyhow, thank you both for taking time to respond to my question.

No, surgery to correct the orbital fracture is considered reconstructive in your case not cosmetic.
