Painless pinto beans size lump on my head

Several months ago! I noticed a painless,  pinto bean, sized lump on my scalp. I immediately went to my GP who told me it was nothing to worry about that it is bone growth. He said that if he tried to remove it it would cost much more trouble than just leaving it.   I had a perfectly smooth head until this bump occurred and I am still suspicious of it. 23 years ago my father was diagnosed and died with a glioblastoma. Is there a reason to get a second opinion, or am I worrying unnecessarily?

I had one of those, and I left it for a year, it grew and grew until it was quite noticeable.  It was nothing serious, a sebaceous cyst under my skin - basically a big zit. While it is small like that, usually a family doctor can incise the lump and remove the fatty tissue in the office (my doctor told me that) but I had to have it removed surgically in the OR. don't let it grow or this will happen to you as well. that was 17 years ago and it has never come back, so I don't think it will recur

Hello,

If you are really worried, I would certainly seek a second opinion. If cancer runs in your family, all the more reason to have a second opinion and have it checked. I feel sure there must be certain blood tests that can help to rule out cancer.
