Persistent Cyst for 2 years!

I have diagnosed with right ovarian cyst (3.5 -2 cm) in August 2007. Doctors said that the size is small so not operative. But i have had severe pain during my cycles. They said that there is torsion of your cycst and put me on continuous low dose hormonal therapy (FEMILON combination pill), no periods. After taking femilon my periodically pain was reduced drastically. Ultrasound was done to review the size of cyst after every 3 to 4 mos but the cyst was there with a minimal decrease in size. Now it is almost 2 years i'm taking the same medicine and undergone ultrasound several times but there is no much variation in the size of cyst and it remains as it is. I'm a married woman and don't want to plan for a pregnancy now. Is it fine to continue the same medicine as i have been taking this medicine for 2 years now? Some side effects i have noticed are: headache once weekly or twice weekly and hair fall. Kindly suggest should i continue the same pill or go for some other options? Anxiously waiting for reply!

I would discuss this with your gyn. I would say in my opinion that 2 years is a rather long time to be suppressing your period and you might want to consider some other options at this point. Being on it this long could be causing your thyroid to act up, thus the hair loss and headaches. I would get this looked into if I were you.
