Questions About Enlaraged Spleen

I have an enlarged spleen and it has been since 2003 when I had mono. Over the past 4 years my left side right at and around the rib cage is hurting plus I can't eat much. I feel full, but I keep gaining weight. It has gotten bigger over the years, and I keep getting infections, and when I have a cold it starts hurting really bad. Plus I do have fibromyalgia which I was diagnosed in 2005. I never felt good after having mono.

Right now I have an abscessed tooth and am on antibiotics which I started on the 5th, and by 9th I was feeling better, pain was almost gone. But last night it started hurting again, to where I can't stand the pain, and my side started acting up again. Even worse than before. I am still taking the antibiotics. Never stopped.

I just want to know if there could be a connection between the colds, infections, swollen glands around my neck area and other places and my enlarged spleen??? And WHAT TYPE of Doctor would I see to treat this? My GP wanted me to go to a gasto doctor. I just didn't get that since the spleen has nothing to do with the digestive system. Or am I wrong? Please I need help, with my fibro all this pain is pulling me down, and I am a full-time student working on my BAA in Business Management, and a full-time mom. I am 40 years young, but feel well you know.
