Random Heart Pain

Random Heart Pain

Hi i am 19 years old but when i was around 14 i started having sudden and short heart pain that also restricted my breathing.  when i saw a doctor about the pain he said it was hormones but after a few years w/o an inncident it happend again.  Right now it has been happing a little more frequently, about 4 times in 3 months.  The pain come out of nowhere sometimes when i am just sitting down and my heart rate slows down but beats very hard. You can even see it beating from just looking at the area.  When it happpens i become very short of breath and the pain is so bad my knuckles go white.  I want to see a doctor about it again but because it comes and goes so rapidly and randomly they say they cant know for sure unless they catch it happening.  It only lasts about a min sometimes two but i am very worried.  I really hope that someone can give me an explanation or even a theory.

It may be nothing to worry about have you had much stress lately could it be connected to that,is everything in your life doing okay? Having said that I think you should go back to the Doctor and ask for an EKG sometimes they will do a holter moniter test ,he will know,Be positive tell him it is very concerning to you and will he please check your heart out.Good Luck

Well i have believed it was stress before but i cannot for the life of me imagine how stressed i possibly could have been at 14 to bring this on..i am in college now so yes there are some stressfull situations, but i have had this going on and of for years and i just think its deeper than stress.  I will ask about an EKG i had one done a long timne ago but maybe second timne around will be more promising. Thank you.

hey cjwilli9, I agree w/ margypops... go to your doctor and let him know it's concerning you.  An EKG will only show what's going on at the particular moment of the actual EKG, which will be a timespan of maybe a few minutes.  I would think a holster/monitor would be a better tool for this.

I wore one for 24hrs once (not the most pleasant experience, the cords get in the way) and it will monitor you for however long he tells you to wear it.  With mine, when I was feeling chest pains, I would just push a little button and that was it.  Might be something to at least ask about.
