Scalp cyst GONE

Scalp cyst GONE

I had a scalp cyst that grew slowly over at least 10 years.  It was painless; but each new hairdresser noticed it and commented.  I had several doctors check it but at last (June 08) got sick of it and had a very special doctor (my son!!!) remove it.  Can you imagine the situation?  He put in so much local anesthetic... He didn't want to hurt his "Mum".  It was rather bizarre hearing him scrape/cut away and complain that I was bleeding so much.  (I take mini-aspirin - that's another story.)  But he soon extracted a cyst about the size of a pea.  He stitched me up, cleaned the red stripes from my gray hair and sent the cyst to the pathology lab.  A week later the report was back - nothing sinister. The stitches were out, and although feeling a little bruised, all was well.

It was a special moment trusting my son (a "Family Doctor" in Australia) to remove this silly lumpy thing.  We both did fine!

So if you have a similar lump, don't get too worried, get it removed if you care to, but if you want to wait a while (as long as the doctors say that it's not a "problem lump") then do it when you are ready.

But after all these years, i am happy that it's gone.  Off to the salon for a shampoo and style...
