Seizure, or something Else?

About 20 years ago, I was sitting with my kids and husband, then came to in the hospital.  They said I had fainted and was talking to them, but I had no memory of that.  They took multiple tests, but came up with nothing wrong.  I was weak for several days, but then was back to normal.  About 3 weeks later, I was having dinner when suddenly my right hand felt like it was disappearing, going numb, and the feeling started up my arm, then roaring started in my head, my jaw stiffened, and I fell to the ground and passed out.  When I came to, I was standing in the kitchen talking to the paramedics, and evidently had been for some time (I had no memory of this).  I went to the ER, tests were taken, I was referred to a neurologist, who took many more tests.  I learned to throw myself on the floor, on my stomach, which at least prevented me from passing out totally.  Nothing came of any of the test, and attempts to cause a episode with flashing lights failed.  So, my doctor said it could be mini-seizures, put me on Tegretol, and the episodes stopped.  However, if I'm startled by something, my right hand reacts the same way it used to, but I can stop it.  My question, after all this time, since my doctor never could say with certainty what it was or why it started, is there any other explanation for what happens to me?

Sometimes the testing for seizures is not conclusive as you have to be having them as they test.

The only other thing that comes to mind is Vasovagal Syncope secondary to POTS.

If the Tegretol is controlling the episodes except for the symptom with your hand it would be difficult to say this truly isn't mini-seizures.
