Seprafilm

Seprafilm

My question is: Can seprafilm be used in laprascopic surgery......or only in open surgery?

I have been suffering upper abdominal pain for the past 18 months and had my gallbladder removed laproscopically last Dec. My specialists are now thinking that scar tissue/adhesions are causing my diaphragm muscle to become inflamed and painful.....

After doing research, it seems that only surgery could help this.......

Can you offer some advice please

Has your Dr done tests on your liver recently to see if everything is alright with it?
Yes, scar tissue can be removed and may be causing your pain. I'm really not sure about the seprafilm. Sorry I could'nt help with that but we have several very knowledgeable people at this forum that can probably help you with that question.

if youve been to a specialist. then trust me if they tell you you need surgery it is possible you need it. after a surgery removing or adding something to your body can cause any alarms. just like a car. think of you body system as a car. surgery=mechanical fixtures. like my car. if one thing goes wrong. something else seems to even if i get it fixed. sometimes thats just how our body works.

First I have to tell you that I am not a doctor and am not qualified to give you advice in this area, but I do have some suggestions that might help you. I too had laproscopic surgery to remove my gallbladder and still had some symptoms.  I asked my internal medicine doctor and as I remember (it was a long time ago),  he mentioned to me that there was some kind of condition which you could have after surgery that causes additional discomfort. Ask your doctor.   That condition did not require surgery and eventually went away.  Just remember that your doctor knows your situation best.  If you really concerned, get a second opinion.  Good luck, Sharon

Hi remar

In answer to your question, yes, I have had numerous tests.....endoscopy/colonoscopy/ct/mrcp and numerous blood tests.

The last few blood tests have showed only slightly elevated liver enzymes (bilirubin), slightly raised white blood count, and some inflammation.....nothing they were too concerned about....hence they think that the scar tissue might be the cause of my chronic pain.

I have also read that celebrex can be helpful to prevent scar tissue.....has anyone heard this before?

Hi Thankyou for your suggestions.

I have done extensive research into possible post cholesystectomy syndrome causes.....even asked my drs to investigate SOD (to which they say they can find no evidence of - at the time of the tests anyway)

All I want is to live my life pain-free again :)
