Sharp pain when I touch my knee after a fall 2 weeks ago

I tripped about two weeks ago and fell on both knees. Once the visible bruising went away a few days later, I noticed that I have a dime size spot on my right knee is extremely painful when I gently touch it.  I am in no pain when I walk, bend, etc. but if anything applies physical pressure to that spot, I feel a stabbing knife pain below my skin.  My personal trainer said that it is probably just a contusion that is taking its time to heal but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or can offer advice.  Thank you!
