Sun exposure- Tetracycline

I am on tertacycline for Occular Rosacea and this past Sat walked on the beach for a bit , sat down to rest before I put my umbrella up and fell asleep. When I woke felt wrung out but went home and was ok till 2AM then woke up with extreme headache- fever-nausea and  felt I had food poisening- My wife checked symptoms and then took showers- plenty of fluids, got temp down to just under 100 but slept from Sat evening till 8 AM Monday- I now feel much better- but am curious- I was warned about sun exposure and thought it was due to sunburn- could Tetra cycline have added to the problems ( fever- headache- nausea )  or was it a case of just too much sun ???  Felt so terrible and weak was going to go to ER but thankfully my wife got me in the shower and reduced my temp- ( Oh I also had difficulty breathing - hurt on deep breath ) fine now just weak .

It is possible that you have/had sun poisioning.  Any antibiotics will add to the harsh exposure of the sun.  That is why they tell you to try to avoid the sun if you can or use a high level of sunscreen if you are out in the sun.  If you are not feeling better soon, you should see your doctor.  Please be careful while in the sun while on these medications.  It can cause some major symptoms not to mention the higher risk of sun burn.  Hope you feel better soon.

Hello~The tetracycline could have added to your problem after being in the sun. If I remember correctly, you are not supposed to be in the sun too long when you are taking it. I still would call the doctor that prescribed this and let the nurse know to make sure all is well.

Glad you are feeling better now.
