Swollen glands during menstrual period

I'm a 45 year old healthy, peri-menopausal woman.  My periods have not been regular for the past year, though they were highly regular prior to that.  For the past 4 years, I generally always feel sick several days before I start my period and for the first 2 or 3 days during my period.  Symptoms are usually sore throat, dizziness, and even what feels like a fluttering heartbeat at times.  Lately, in addition to the usual symptoms, I've begun having swollen glands on one or both sides of my neck, just below my ears and jaw line, extending downward an inch or two.  They're sore to the touch and it's hard to turn my neck because of the pain and stiffness.  Is this normal or is it something I should be concerned about?  Any thoughts are welcome!

I am 45 also.  As of late, I too have had swollen glands in the same place, same time that you describe.  I have been to the dr. had blood tests, etc. My sed rate test says that yes, there is inflammation in my body, Duh?  But she had been unable to diagnose from there.  This is month two of gland issues but 2 months apart.  Periods are irregular at this time.  Did you get any help? Just trying to get to the bottom of this.
