Swollen lymph and pain

I am not sure where to post my question. Hello,

Do you work in the medical field?  My husband has been having issues with a swollen lymph node in one arm pit for several months. He has seen our doc and had general testing that didn't show any serious issues (cancer). He did a round of antibiotics that only did a bit to help and now he also has a swollen lymph in his neck that is painful. We are in the process of moving and he wants me to find a doc in the new area. Do you know what type of doc he should see? He thought this was from a cat scratch but would it cause continuing issues? Do you have any suggestions as to what could be the cause of these issues?

Your MD put him on  antibiotics thinking it's an infection. If that's the case then take him to an Infectious Disease MD.

Well he (my hubby) thought this was from a cat scratch (cat scratch fever) but the gland in his arm pit has persisted and now he says he has one in his neck, near his thyroid gland that is hurting. When he did labs it didn't show infection so why do you suggest ID MD and what diseases could cause this?

Frankly I have fears of cancer. My father died from melanoma two years ago and one of his first symptoms was a swollen gland in his neck. Again the labs didn't suggest a cancer issue.
