Tired of being sick.

I have had a sore throat and ear ache for 10 days now, my doctor tested me for strep and it turned up negative but she prescirbed me a low dose of penicillan even though I am allergic I got a fever and was having trouble breathing that night so she prescribed me a different antibiotic the next day but I was looking at my throat today and it looks like there are white sores on my throat and it is difficult to swallow what could be the problem?

Sounds like you have mononeucleosis (Mono for short) which is a viral infection that usually clears up in 3 or 4 weeks. Penicilin won't help but you must finish the course of tablets - unless you develop a bad reaction, of course. If you're still not feeling any better you have to go back to your doctor because mono can sometimes cause an enlarged spleen. If you develop any pains under your ribcage or in your back then DON'T WAIT, see the doc straight away.

You poor girl! I cannot believe u were prescribed penicillan when u are allergic to it!!! That is ridiculous. You obviously still have the sore throat which has worsened because the antibiotics you are taking now are not working. When u had a throat swab for the strep test which was negative, they should have cultured it and tested for other strains  of bacteria. You need to have this done and be prescribed an antibiotic that will treat the diagnosed bacterial strain and one which is NOT PENICILLAN such as a Sulfur based antibiotic. If this has no effect, your condition may be a viral infection. Viruses do not respond to antibiotic treatment so you will need to ride it out with plenty of fluids, vitamins and bed rest.
