Toenail discoloration.

Toenail discoloration.

I am a 36 year old male with no known health issues, other than having had approximately 6 kidney stones within the last 8 or so years. My problem began yesterday when I was showering, I noticed that both of my large toenails seemed to be a pale bluish/purplish color. I initially thought they were stained by something, but not quite sure what. So, I washed them several more times and the color remained. Later that evening, I scrubbed my nails and used a file over the top of them and I also clipped my toenails and the clippings themselves were the same bluish/purplish color.

This morning I noticed that the color of my two large toenails appeared to be a very pale, "frosted', bluish/whitish color and have remained so throughout the day. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I have looked all over the net but found little about what this might be.

I have read about Cyanosis and Raynaud's disease, but only my two toenails are affected, not any skin surrounding the nails, or anywhere else on my body. I also read about toenail fungus, but haven't found anything about toenail fungi appearing bluish or purplish. Also, the toenail clippings themselves were bluish, leading me to believe it is the nails themselves, not the skin underneath.

Any ideas?!? I've searched everywhere.

Happy Holidays.
