Weight Loss

How can I loose weight at a very fast rate? I have been climbing "Stone Mountain"(up and down) and I have been walking five miles as well and I have lost some weight, but I want to loose like 40 pounds...Any suggestions???

It is pointless to try and lose weight at a 'fast rate' as the minute you stop the 'diet' the weight will all be put back on, and then some!! the diets that promise such results cannot last. It is like when you have a stomach bug and are ill and don't eat alot, you do lose weight, but it won't last once you are better because the body can't continue to survive that way, and you will put the weight back on with your normal diet.

The only healthy way to lose weight is to make lifestyle and diet changes permanently, by eating healthy, calorie-controlled meals (making sure you get a healthy balance of vitamins etc) and exercising, try to make changes that you can continue with once you have reached your target weight (by slightly increasing your calories to maintain a healthy weight), and try to make sure you include the odd treat of chocolate, or whatever is your dietary weakness, so you don't suddenly crack under the cravings and divulge, and then feel like you have failed.(saying that, if this does happen, try not to punish yourself, we all do it! so just get back on to your plan and take it as a lesson learned, and not to be repeated!)

Also, check your BMI, it isn't the best indicator of weight and obesity in my opinion, but it can help to give you an idea of what your ideal weight bracket is.....if by losing 40 pounds it would put you in a low category for your height, then maybe the reason you can't lose this weight is because it is not healthy or natural for your body te weigh so little. (I am saying this as you did not put your weight, and if you are already a 'normal' weight then it really isn't wise to lose more weight, and if this is the case and you are still focusing on reaching an unhealthy weight then you should maybe see your doctor for advise.)

Try not to look at your weight loss goal of 40 pounds, as that seems like a mountain....maybe aim for 6 pounds this month, and maybe 4-5 pounds a month thereafter. This may mean it takes a while to reach your main goal but the smaller goals will feel more achievable!

Good luck! x

Ask your doctor about  prescrition drug called phenterimine. I have lost 40 pounds in 6 months. YOu dont need to loose the weight any quicker than that. Its unhealthy and You will just gain it back even quicker than you lost it. I hope Ive helped.

Hi there, it is so not a healthy thing to do, loosing weight fast can cause many medical issues, and u will most likely not keep the weight of..........im talking from expirence here, ive tried many quick weigh loss ideas and nothings eva worked...worked enough to keep the weigh of anyway......i am currently on Jenny craig......the best weight loss option out there i believe....it is a life style change, not so much a diet.....i started at 113.9kg and im down to 78.7kg now....my goal is to get to 70kg, so im nearly there..........

Thanks everyone for your responses.. I have been having a low appitite.. I haven't really been wanting to eat anything, I guess it could be because I am stressed. I have never had this to happen to me. I have lost about 8 pounds in an average of 2 weeks.. I dont think that is a bad thing, but even though my appitite is wacky right now, that doesn't mean that I'm not eating. I still make myself eat and whatever I eat, I have to make sure that it is something healthy. Something that will give my body some nutrients. I also take vitimans to replace any lost nutrients that my body needs. I am trying my best to stay healthy as possible. I think im doing good.

Hi Shanell~It looks like you are doing well regarding the vitamins and such. As the other posters have written, there is no fast way to loose, darn it :-). I have tried and believe me it is unhealthy and the weight does not stay off.

The best way is proper eating, exercise and also, I would have your cortisol levels checked. You said you were under stress, well, stress puts on weight faster than anything as the cortisol makes insulin and insulin makes fat. If the levels are high, this could be part of your problem. Also, have you been tested for food allergies? Food allergies will definitely put weight on you if you eat the offending food.

I hope this helps and good luck and God bless.
