What can be causing my headaches and lightheadedness?

I am a 44 year old female. One month ago today, I came home from school (just completed nursing school) and suddenly got very dizzy. Went to bed, woke up during the night to go to the BR and noticed the dizziness was worse that earlier. Went back to bed, woke up and was fine, just a headache. The headache continued for several days. I was in a review class all week for 8 hrs each day. I usually got headaches after school so this was not out of the norm for me. I work on weekends as a flight attnedant. I have always gotten headaches after work as well as they are very long days (18-20 from the time I get up to the time I get home). Christmas came and went and they still persisted. I then thought it was a sinus infection. Went to the Dr and was put on azythromycin. It did nothing. There were days that I did not have a headache but when I did it was often accompanied by neck pain and mild jaw pain. I have noticed that when I do not have headaches, I feel a little lightheaded. A friend of mine suggested trying something as simple as sleeping with 1 pillow. Right around the time all this started I began sleeping with two pillows. Helps with the headaches a bit but not the lightheadedness. Ibuprofen helps with the headaches. Being on the computer for as little as 15 minutes does not help. The first day I noticed relief from sleeping with 1 pillow (I felt great), I had gone all day without using my cell phone. That evening I picked it up and used it for 45 minutes. Everything came back. Headache, neck and jaw pain. Of course I am terrified that this is a tumor. I do not have N/V/D. No balance or speech problems. I do have an appt with my Dr but not until late next week. Any insight would be great.

If you get no relief from the chiropractor, you might want an MRI.  I was diagnosed with a grade 2 6mm non malignant menengioma ( brain tumor ) at 44.  And I have many of the same symptoms including absentee seizures which it sounds like you are having the mildest form, which is good.   OH and when you schedule the MRI make sure the hospital or facility has a new 3x stronger imaging machine.  It's okay to be afraid.  Just don't let fear run your life.  Although I won't lie, every headache I fear a brain bleed or new tumor.  But I was only diagnosed 6 months ago so I'm hoping that will go away.   Good Luck.

A chiropractic visit is a good idea.

How is your blood pressure?

Also blood work to check the following:
Vitamin D, Magnesium, Vitamin B12, Hemoglobin, Ferritin.

Blood Work:
25 OH Vitamin D
Magnesium RBC
Serum Ferritin
Hemoglobin
Serum B12
MMA HotoTC levels
Homocystein

Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals can cause those symptoms.

Magnesium is good for headaches also.

Hello,
I would recommend that you see a chiropractor for these issues. They specialize in headaches, dizziness, etc, and, if vertebrae in your neck are misaligned, then no drug is going to help, it is certainly worth a try. I know they help me.
