What should I do? Cellulitis won't go away, and pain is extreme.

I've had cellulitis for 3 weeks now. It infected my toes, spread through my foot, and above my knee. I spent 3 days in the hospital. It's been limited to my foot for a couple weeks. My whole foot is still swollen, red, and in a lot of pain.

I was given a variety of antibiotics, and have been taking Levofloxacin 500mg for a week now.

The doctors (ER docs, after hours doc, and primary care doc) aren't willing to do much for the pain. Twice I got one day's worth of 5mg percocet, which cut the pain in half. I was able to work for two days, although I still limped, and had push myself to continue working. Right now I'm prescribed a week's worth of Tramadol, which only helps a very little. When an ER doctor had given me a script for a day's worth of percocet, handed me the script and said "I'm really sorry. The government is on our ***** about this. I have to be careful how much I prescribe."

The pain is sometimes a 10, literally. I know sometimes people inaccurately rate their pain at 10, but it really is a 10 for me at times. I once even passed out from the pain while trying to hop on one foot to the other room. The pain was so bad I started feeling sick to my stomach, then the room started to look dark. I woke up with chips of teeth in my mouth, and a piece of tooth chipped off. I've had kidney stones, and surgery to put stints in. And this pain from cellulitis is even more painful than kidney stones.

Apparently I'm supposed to lay in bed a lot, and keep my foot elevated. But I can't just lay in bed for several weeks. And it seems odd, but it is more painful to be laying down than to sit in a chair. Also, laying down makes it so sitting back up, and standing, are so painful that I have to spend half an hour gradually going from laying down to standing. I feel like I'm better off sitting, which makes standing up not as bad.

This problem lasting so long is really wearing on me, and there's no end or relief in site.

I meant to say that *in the past* I had kidney stones. I was just comparing the pain level. I did not have kidney stones at the same time as cellulitis.
