Will getting your tonsils out keep you from getting sick all the time?
Compared to most people that I know, I have a weaker immune system. I have been this way since I was a kid. I just can be in the same room with someone who is sick and I will get whatever they have. I have been told by a couple of my adult friends that they had their tonsils out and that they do not ever get sinus infections or upper respiratory infections anymore. So, if they tonsils are part of the immune system and they are supposed to help you from getting sick, why does it seem that getting them removed keeps you from getting sick?
I don't think doctors remove tonsils as often as they used to. It isn't really recommended like it used to be. I am familiar with what you are talking about, since this has been quite similar to my own story. In fact, it got so bad that a really awful virus nearly killed me.
What I recommend is to have your doctor test your vitamin D levels. Very likely, you have vitamin D deficiency. This is pretty common all around the world these days, even in the sub tropical areas of the world because of the way we live and work in the modern world. And, because the sun has been villifed too much as the culprit or cause of skin cancer. Actually, a modest amount of sun exposure (not overexposure) will help you out. I would seriously check the vitamin D levels before resorting to surgery.

Hi how are you? I was wondering how much curcumin or Turmeric you use per day. I think you gave me a recipe but I can't find it.
FYI, my sister in law and her husband did research on curcumin and Altzheimers disease and they had really good results using rats as their model. Those that were given a certain dose of curcumin didn't had brain cell damage versus those rats that were not given curcumin. I believe they also worked on brain cancer cells and it slowed the growth of a very aggressive type of brain cancer. There is much research in this area and it is all good. My husband and I went totally vegan cold turkey ha ha, and after a few months we felt much better in alot of ways. More energy, and better digestion etc. It is hard to do if you have eaten meat all your life to get all the nutrients you need. It takes longer to cook or figure out how to get enough protein etc and other nutrients. But the "Greek" diet which is a diet high in fruits and vegies, plus very low meat intake and lots of whole grains (if you are not allergic) and goat cheese is ok.
Hi Iramala, I noticed this post (see my note to gymdandee regarding diet too). I wouldn't get your tonsils out as an adult it is somewhat risky for an adult. There has to be a really good reason for the doctor to want to do this. They don't do it much on adults any more. Your tonsils are part of your immune system as is your appendix. However, of course appendicitis is dangerous and has to be removed when necessary. If you have had a low immune system this would account for the repeated Mycoplasma infection too. In addition to Vitamin D, have you had your Immunoglobulin level tested? They have several other immune tests to check and see why you have a lower immune system. You can also get a complete blood count to see if you have enough white blood cells to fight off bacteria.

For Picrorrhiza, daily amounts are 500 milligrams to 2 grams; higher doses can cause gas, diarrhea, and a skin rash. Note: A basic principle of effective nutritional and botanical treatment is to use a
little of several effective items rather than a large amount of just one.
I agree with these useful posts. They are such great additional information about supporting the immune system. And, while I agree that what tana_h says is true, I would certainly do everything possible to support the immune system first as all of us have given you some information on ways to do this. Definitely try these simple natural steps first. You can meld all this information with eating for your right blood type. For example: Blood type "O" greatly benefits the most from the maitake mushrooms but not as much from the shitake mushrooms. In fact, the maitake is right there at the top of the list for people with blood type "O". I have also noticed that fresh maitake mushrooms are much more available in the produce section of my favorite natural grocery store and are more affordable than they used to be. So, applying these useful tips to your own blood type will enhance your immune system immensely. I read some information on his site about some personal experiences of some people who applied the blood type diet in their own lives and definitely started feeling better. They were not blood type "O" people that I read the story about that I remember, so as soon as they at the right diet for their blood type, their immune systems also got stronger. Everything that the above posts is correct and will not conflict with the blood type diet. Like I said, meld the information together.
And, definitely listen to what Gymdandee said about the turmeric and curcumin. Turmeric is wonderful for all blood types. And, he is absolutely correct about organic. As for spices that are both affordable and organic, I've gotten many from Trader Joe's that are both affordable and organic. And, they are in GLASS jars. Glass is best, because glass is inert.
Mushrooms are not only delicious, but many provide health benefits as well. A respectable source of protein on their own, mushrooms provide all the essential amino acids when combined with grains.
