As was said acne in general is very common especially in teenage years. There are many ways to help reduce it. You can get it on your face or back.  Some of the treatments over the counter are: Oxy 10, Stridex, and prescriptions:  Cleocin T,  (clindamycin antibiotic topical), and accutaine. There are others as well. A whole plant based diet with no added oil will lower the amount of extra oil in your system and thus less oil. Oily foods make acne worse. Read the Starch Solution by Dr. McDougall and it talks about a healthy diet and how it affects your skin, heart and many other things. One thing do not pick or scrub the acne. Be very gentle when washing the acne.  Don't scrub with a washrag or other rough surface. Gently wash with clean hands. Picking leaves scars and doesn't expedite healing.  Gentle washing with something like Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser or Neutrogena products are good. Wash your hands before washing your face or back. Hormones can play a role and this  will decline as you age. Hope this helps.

Having acne during the teenage years is very common.  This can be a hormonal problem and affects males and females.

What happens is that the oil glands are producing lots of natural oil and the pores get blocked.  With this you may notice a black plug and the oil builds up and can become infected with pus.

If you acne is bad, make an appointment with your doctor.
If the acne is very severe, the doctor may prescribe an antibiotic and you may need to be on a low dose for a while.

Have a healthy and well balanced diet with fresh fruit and vegetables. Drink plenty of fluids like water.  Cut down on processed and sugary foods like cakes, chocolates, white bread.  Eating brown bread is healthier.

If you do sweat a lot, have regular showers or baths using soaps and lotions that you can buy for acne.  The doctor may prescribe a lotion for you to use.

Although acne can settle down as you get older, you may still be prone to getting some spots from time to time.
