I know how scary it can be to wait for the answers, but it's just not worth it to wait. I recently lost my grandma because she waited- she had blood in her stools and bad stools for 15 years before seeing a dr and it was too late. She lasted 4 years longer than anyone thought- but still lost her battle at 69. That being said, if she went in for her colonoscopy at 50 as suggested she might still be around. Your worst case scenario- colon cancer is very survivable, but you need to be on top of it.
If you need to have a friend or a relative go with you to the dr. There's still a good chance it's nothing more than hemorrhoids so you have every reason to hope. However, if you twiddle your thumbs like my grandma did and it's not just hemorrhoids things will only get much worse. Then your family will be robbed of a life with you in it. It's just not worth waiting.
I had to urinate 20 times yesterday and I had 9 bowel movements and no matter what I eat I feel very sick to my stomach afterwards, It is so hard to work when all I do is stop and use the bathroom all day, this has been going on for quite a while, the bleeding in my stool comes and goes but no matter what after taking a stool softener my stools are still very small and just a couple everytime, just scared something is bad wrong.
If you are going to take fiber you must drink a lot of fluids. Otherwise the fiber will gum up and cause more problems than you had before. As everyone commented red blood from the anal sphincter is generally from hemorrhoids. The quantity of blood is usually overestimated. That being said, over a period of months or years you can lower your hemocrit to dangerous levels. The normal hematocrit for a male is between 40 and 46. Female norms run lower. I recall an emergency room patient brought in with a life-threatenhing hematocrit of 16 - all due to hemorrhoids that were left untreated. So you should request your primary care provider to take blood and tell you your hematocrit. There are four procedures usually recommended. (1) crogenic (freezing) (2) cauterization (essentially burning) (3) surgical removal and sutures and (4) laser. Whichever procedure you select be sure to go to a teaching hospital and a place that does a lot of procedures.
Yeah I was thinking it might just be hemorroids but I have had alot of blood on several occassions, I am gonna make an appt with my doctor tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.
thank you so much for your information, I will get me some fiber and start using it, It does not matter what I have been eating but my stools are very small and sometimes its just one or two, I have been using a stool softener and the stools are still very small and just one or two, no matter what I eat I always feel sick afterwards, thanks again for your information.
This does sound like hemorrhoids, and the fact that you are having small stools and abdominal cramping suggests that you are likely constipated as well. You should start taking a stool softener (Docusate, or Colace, is available over the counter) which should help with both. If your stools are less hard, they are less likely to aggravate hemorrhoids. You should also see your primary care doctor for further evaluation and to discuss whether a colonoscopy is necessary.
Make an appointment with a Colon/Rectal doctor! If the blood is bright red then
most likely it's hemorrhoids! if it's dark then it could be internal bleeding.
I also suggest taking Fiber a very good product is konsyl powder buy it at any drug store and use it daily.
There is a good chance this is just hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are really just inflamed blood vessels so when they burst -dear lord it's a lot of blood.
That being said, there is a possibility that it's not just hemorrhoids. So please get checked out by a dr. Waiting on something that could be serious will only make it worse if it is serious.
