boob pain, not nipples

I have been having issues with my breasts being very sore. It started last month, a few weeks prior to my period. There was noticeable growth of my boobs. I then received my period and the breast pain subsided. Then it started back up again a week or so after my cycle was done. My period was only two weeks ago and my boobs are horribly sore again. My nipples are not, just my boobs. I also am very tired all the time, but I assume this is dehydration. I really need to drink more water. What are possible reasons for this reoccurring boob pain? I am sexually active but I do not think I am pregnant as I am still weeks from a missed period, no nausea whatsoever, or any additional symptoms.

Thanks!

I would have a pregnancy test done just in case. You could very well be pregnant, and still have a period. I have known women to have a period for the first 6 mos. Of their pregnancy. Also you don't have to have any symptoms to be pregnant. Some women have no b symptoms what so ever, then you have the not so lucky women like me, who are nauseated aND sick the first six months! So I would definitely take a pt, have your Dr give got a blood one. hopen this helps.

Tenderness with boobs around 10 days before a period is quite normal and due to hormonal changes.  The symptoms would come under Premenstrual Tension (PMT) or Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).

To help with PMS symptoms a healthy diet will help, cutting out or cutting down on sugary and junk foods and processed foods, eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as taking Evening Primrose Oil.  You can purchase the capsules from a large superstore or from a herbal shop.

You are right that you do need to drink plenty of fluids.  2 litres of water a day is usually recommended, more if you sweat a lot.  Don't be fooled that drinking less water will stop any fluid retention - it won't.  If you do suffer from fluid retention before your periods, you can purchase herbal diuretics from the large superstores and from the pharmacy - your doctor can also prescribe if he felt you needed this.  Foods that are naturally diuretic are cucumbers, celery, coffee, tea, there may be others that I cannot remember at the moment.

Because you have been experiencing the breast pains after your periods, I would suggest that you should make an appointment to see your doctor.   Tell your doctor about you feeling tired all the time too.  Although tiredness may be due to dehydration, you may also have low iron levels causing anaemia.

Best wishes.
